VIBROCUBE

I'm Scott Robbins, W4PA, the owner of
Vibroplex. One of the things I've heard again and again
from American hams is how we don't like our small,
lightweight CW paddle sliding around on the operating
table when in use. When I took over Vibroplex in 2009 I
vowed I was going to create a large paddle that would
stay in place on the desk and accomodate my large hand
comfortably. The result of many hours of conversation
with the ham community is
VIBROCUBE.
| IT'S SIX POUNDS
OF SOLID STEEL |
The VIBROCUBE
registers just under 6 pounds on the scale. The base is
USA-forged cold rolled steel, upper components are zinc,
steel and brass. The finger pieces are hard red acrylic.
Instead of magnetic tensioning, we use the tried and
true spring loaded method which provides a greater range
of possible tension settings than magnets allow.
Not really! The base measures 1.5" H x 3.5" W x 3.5" D, the overall
height of the key with rubber feet installed is 4.25".
The large oversize acrylic finger pieces are 2.125" at
their tallest point. See the illustration below of the
red acrylic finger piece used on
VIBROCUBE
versus the
standard
finger piece as used on the Vibroplex Iambic Standard
paddle. Large paddles accomodate a large hand easily and
take minimal hand movement to use.
This is not a fragile, delicate device. All parts except the finger
pieces and the two decorative top jewels are metal. The
base, mainframe, and lever bars are electrostatic
powdercoated in a wrinkle black finish. It's difficult
to chip or scratch the paint. Adjustment components are
chromed brass; the contact points are coin-grade silver.
Four non-skid rubber feet are affixed to the bottom for
extra non-movement stability.
It's not merely "assembled in USA" - parts and components used on
VIBROPLEX are American made and all assembly is done in
our facility in Knoxville, TN. We proudly affix the MADE
IN USA label to each and every VIBROPLEX key built.
There are two versions of the
VIBROCUBE
available at present - the Standard version with
standard pivoting trunion pins and screws. The
Standard Upgraded version is built exactly like the
Standard, except the pivoting trunion pins are
rounded off and the upper and lower trunion screws
have an industrial jewel installed
(for more
complete info on jeweled vs. non-jeweled movements,
see our FAQ file by clicking here)(PDF).
The Standard is $189.95 plus shipping, the Standard
Upgraded version is $219.95 plus shipping. We will be introducing an
all-chrome version of the
VIBROCUBE
called the Deluxe model, which will feature jeweled
upper and lower trunion screws, an all-chrome base
and all-chrome top components later in 2012. Price
TBD.
