I   never , never have ever written a manufacturer of any product, but I had to write you. I just got the Vibroplex Black Standard Str key from AES. It is fantastic, The black finish is really great , esp when I compare it to a GHD str key I have. I am able to put a light tension on the spring and it makes for effortless sending. I was sending great code on it 10 minutes out of the box.

Thank you for making a fine product, it is a keeper

I just wanted to write and thank you for my brand new Anniversary bug! It is a gorgeous key, and I am so happy with it. The bug is all I expected and more. Your friendly and helpful customer service is top notch.

Hooked up vari speed to my lightening bug. Outstanding!!!! Can now send at a very comfortable 16 wpm. Sounds as good as my vibrokeyer but "fits" my old fist better for some reason. Anyway thanks for the suggestion and helping me recover a piece of the old daze,

Tom Brown, AE5I

I have purchased three new bugs and a good many small parts from y’all over the last few months and I have to say that the quality of the bugs and parts and the quality of service I have received when dealing directly with Vibroplex has been absolutely wonderful!  It is a real pleasure to do business with y’all.  Everyone I have talked with or emailed with has been extremely friendly, courteous and helpful and I have received my parts orders quickly and with everything well packed and in fine shape.  I don’t know how a company can do any better than that.

I also want to comment on the quality of your current production keys…

I have two of your current production Blue Racers and I am extremely pleased with them.  The fit, finish, appearance, function and “feel” are absolutely excellent.

My favorite key of all time is a Vibroplex 100th Anniversary Edition Original that I bought directly from y’all this past summer and I just couldn’t be more pleased with it.  Its mainspring has the widest speed range of any bug I’ve ever used and the fit, finish, general appearance, feel and general usability are the best I’ve ever encountered and I have used keys made as far back as 1917.  It’s a shame that more people don’t get to see and try the Anniversary Model out in person, because I would imagine that a lot of folks would want one if they did have such an opportunity.  I have other bugs that I really enjoy using but every time I think about pulling one down off the shelf, I find it very hard to convince myself to disconnect the Anniversary model.

I enjoy repairing/restoring old Vibroplex bugs and it is very nice to be able to get original parts conveniently from such a nice bunch of folks!

  Keep up the great work!

I am an old relay operator. Spent 43 yrs on the Wabash-NW-NS . I have my blue racer I pruchased in 1955 and 2 old chrome bugs - one Original and one Lightning. I also have a catalog from 1955. You never forget how to telegraph.

Rcvd the Bug last night from UPS and immediately went about setting the trunion and pinion end play, etc. I am very pleased with the refurb job, and was most happy to get my ole pal back and renew past memories. Thanks for the fine effort. I hope to meet you some day on the air or at a hamfest."

"I just wanted you to know what a warm customer service experience I had dealing with your staff.  I feel that purchasing your products is not only for use but a part of history. Again, thanks in advance for expediting my order ..."

"Just wanted to say I absolutely love your products. I use the Vibrokeyer religiously here and it's never failed. The precision and fine tuned movements on this key make it just a pure joy to use. Keep up the great work and thank you for preserving the fine art of Morse code.  Your company is tops!"

"When I was five years old, I met a neighbor who was an amateur radio operator. I'll never forget he had a Vibroplex Bug, and I was hooked. From that time on I was, "gonna get a ham license." Well, throughout my life, every time I began to study towards my goal something came up to interrupt me. So now, sixty-two years later, I have the time and the ambition.  I'VE GOT MY BUG ON THE WAY! You can't guess how excited I am. Many thanks. This time nothing can get in the way!

(Later)  "I just got my Bug ... and sister, am I one happy guy! It took awhile to become accustomed to the adjustments and my sending skills, but I must say that the wait was more than worthwhile.  I sure can see what all the pride is about. Soon I will be looking towards a General exam and, even though code is no longer required, I can say that CW will be my preferred mode."

"I just received my 100th anniversary key. I must say how absolutely beautiful it is. Everything is perfect in every way. Even the setup you did on it was nearly perfect. Truly a plug and play key. Thanks for making such an outstanding key."

Last Thursday I received the bug with no problems. The packing (was) perfect. I was greatly impressed, when opening the box, at seeing the beautiful piece of fine mechanical art. Adjustments were easy to follow. I saw other keys but not one like this. I am very proud to operate with this fantastic key.

  I received my Vibroplex dust cover . . . THANK YOU . . . it is perfect . . . I don't know why I waited so long to get one!!!

I'm certain ya'll hear this every day, but I am just besneakered, jam-blown away, totally flipped at "discovering" Vibroplex semi-auto keys. Being a Ham for 23 years, it's neat to have something new to learn . . . and the links on your site have opened my eyes to the world of telecommunications as it was prior to my arrival on earth. It must have been a lot different in, say, 1938 when getting a message to a pal in Gary, Indiana.

It is so very cool what y'all do (at) Vibroplex for us hams. Words cannot express my indescribable gratitude. Finally something really great that doesn't fold up and blow away. Vibroplex products truly span the generations. The 1922 Original I picked up for a song on Ebay works just like the Blue Racer 2000 I bought from you. And the Vibrokeyer is excellent as a "Cootie Key." Its also pretty fine as a single-lever keyer paddle."

Your products make it possible for us aging newbies, and all folks, to connect with the magic of communication over long distance. I'm going to get a sounder and learn American Morse. Over "phone lines" yet. Vibroplex floats above all fads. Dig it.

John, K7JB

I received the 100th Anniversary Bug yesterday . . . it's really nice and much more than i expected in appearance. I want to thank you so much for taking special care to include my order . . . in your recent build schedule. When comparing the 100th Anniversary Bug with these two old ones (Bugs), I think they are all top quality in manufacture. However, I think your new ones are a step above the older models. Just fantastic! And especially the GOLD offerings are a very nice addition. I think the shiny is nice; but, the GOLD plated base models are certainly worth the extra price. The combination of CHROME and GOLD really looks sharp.

I have been a ham since 1959 and bought my Original Deluxe as a new General in 1960. It has been my favorite way of operating CW to this day. I have used various keyers, but I feel most comfortable with my bug. Thanks to Horace Martin for creating a great key in 1902 and to you folks at Vibroplex for continuing the great tradition. It is a real pleasure to use "the bug." Even though the current cost is much higher than the $55 I paid for my bug in the early 60's, it is worth the money.

I'm an active member of the Amateur Radio Lighthouse Society (ARLHS). I just visited our website to check on our annual convention and see that you have donated several items. Thank you so much for doing this. In today's business environment it's truly refreshing to see a quality company like Vibroplex in business. Vibroplex has an interesting and rich history with amateur radio and I commend you for your "community involvement." I'm also involved with the " Radio for Morse Project" here in Pennsylvania and once again Vibroplex donated a nice straight key which will be given to Diana Morse. Vibroplex not only does business in the amateur radio community, but is an active and excellent "friend" to all amateur radio operators around the world. Thank you. Vibroplex!

. . . Interestingly enough, I can't recall the specific date that I bought my Blue Racer, but I do remember that I was working at Columbia Pictures on 'I Dream of Jeannie,' 'Bewitched,' 'The Flying Nun,' and 'The Monkeys' . . . I thought you might like to know that CW was still in use at that time for communication from the stage sound mixer to his recordist, though by then there was also voice communication, and sometimes we just yelled at each other. Many of the audio mixing panels in use today still have a button on them marked 'O.W.,' which stands for 'Order Wire.' This was simply a twisted pair with battery on the line and a buzzer at either end. By sending the proper CW command, the sound mixer could request his recordist to roll a take, and in turn the recordist would acknowledge back in CW when the system was up to speed.

During this era, Columbia Pictures was located at Sunset Boulevard and Gower Street. Paramount Pictures and the old RKO Radio Pictures studio were both on the corner of Gower Street and Santa Monica Boulevard, a distance of several miles. You can still listen to some CW that I sent years ago. It plays over the RKO Radio Pictures logo at the start of the film where the lightning bolts burst over the radio tower and as sound effect in many other studios films as well.

The use of CW in the motion picture studios was predicated by the shortage of copper during WWII.  A voice circuit required, as a minimum, a matching transformer at both ends plus a separate copper pair to carry the voice transmission. Add to that, microphones, tubes, a power supply and all the related ancillary equipment, and you can easily underestand why the old studio CW order wire was a communications mainstay. Of course, all that has changed now, and most of the old timers like myself have been put out to pasture along with our archaic form of communications.

The first time I revisited your website and saw the excellent changes I thought to myself, I’ve got to write and congratulate them…let me tell you that the re-done website is great.  Now it is easy to find one’s way, the parts lists and such are right where one would want them, the photos are consistently (and well) done, and on and on.  In my opinion, the website honors the Vibroplex name.

Arthur, WA7OSQ

The bug and the extra parts arrived today. I find it difficult to spend money on myself beyond necessities and I certainly didn't need a new Vibroplex as I have a stock of them already. So I guess I was predisposed to find some problem to punish myself for such extravagance. I have tried in this instance and failed completely. I placed my new 100th anniversary original on line ... The bug is a marvel! The weight supplied allows for wide adjustment of sending
speeds ... The finish is pristine, the chrome bright, the alignment of parts perfect. I presently have four other bugs on line and I am fond of each for different characteristics. I am taking them all off line and placing them on a shelf so as to not shame them! Thank you so much for my Bug. Thank you also for your kindness in allowing me to amend my purchase and informing me of the shipping date and tracking number. My experience in dealing with your company has
been wonderful!

Fred, NY

... this keyer (VK Deluxe) is absolutely gorgeous ... I can't wait to start using it!  I am incredibly impressed with the workmanship. If this is a "second," I'd love to see one that's perfect!
